Altavista……….Paul Bailey Bolling, age 90 of Altavista passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born December 17, 1935 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Woodrow Bolling and Mary Elizabeth Newman Bolling. He was predeceased by one sister, Peggy Sisk; and a brother-in-law, Issac Lee Sisk, Jr.
Paul grew up on the farmland that now rests beneath Leesville Lake. Hunting arrowheads, fishing and working with animals on the farm is how he spent his childhood. A devout Christian, Paul (known by many as Papa Paul) was a member of Penuel Baptist Church. He was self-employed for the majority of his adult life owning such businesses as gas stations, well drilling and building houses with some of his close friends. He split his time between Virginia and N. Fort Myers, Florida before relocating to Florida full time in the nineties with his wife, Grace. They enjoyed the great weather and slow pace of life, boating, swimming and going to yard sales. He could always spot a good deal and never let one get away.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Overstreet Bolling of the residence; one son, Gary Bolling and wife, Tina of Lynch Station; two daughters, Rhonda Bolling Keesee of Lynch Station and Kathy Bolling Wade of Lynch Station; six step-children, Paula, Pam, Ken, Keith, Robbie and Amber Dawn; five grandchildren, Jackie Bolling and wife, Meghan of Altavista, James Bolling and wife, Meagan of Altavista, Brandy Lewis and fiancé, Preston Cook of Altavista, Jon Keesee and fiancée, Selena Bage of Lynch Station and Cassie Gillespie and husband, Dan of Penhook; five great-grandchildren, Amber Lewis, Casey Lewis, Harley Lewis, Amy Lewis and Jase Bolling; nephew, Robbie Sisk and wife, Susan of North Carolina; and special friend, Fred Richardson.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Leesville Community Fellowship Church Cemetery by Rev. Kyle Goldsmith.
