Pearl Burby Obituary

On August 19, 2024, Pearl R. (Beaulier) Burby, passed away peacefully at age 94 after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 02, 1930, in Ashland, Maine, the daughter of William and Jessie Beaulier.  She is one of eight siblings; Betty (Beaulier) Diehl and husband the late Robert, Rocky Hill, CT.; Myrton Beaulier and wife Donna, Corinth, ME; Dale Beaulier and wife Carol, Biloxi, MS.;  Ricky Beaulier, Ashland, ME.;  the late Nathan Beaulier and wife Natalie, Lebanon, ME.;  the late Corinna (Beaulier) Garrity and husband, the late Roger, Ashland, ME.; the late Charlene (Beaulier) O’Clair and husband, the late Gilbert, Ashland, ME.

On Oct. 22, 1946, she married Edmund W. Burby, (predeceased Dec. 19, 1994).  She was blessed with 4 children: Veronica (Burby) Goss and husband Peter, Sebring, FL; Julian Burby and wife Jeanne, Southport, N.C.; the late Julia (Burby) Crowell and husband James, Seminole, FL.: Patricia (Burby) Butcher and husband, the late Harry, Deep River, CT.

She was the matriarch of the family.  She unconditionally loved her family and friends.  Her pride and joy were her 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.  Her favorite pastime was making quilts and blankets for all her children.  She was truly known for her many sewing projects, especially her coasters that family, friends, neighbors, anyone she met, were gifted with. Baking was another passion of hers.

She worked as a cook at Ashland Community High School while her children went to school. Several transitions to different states found her working in the fabric department of various stores, J. C. Penny’s, in Middletown, CT.   and after returning to ME,  J. J. Newberry’s, in Millinocket, ME.  They retired in Limington, ME. and  became “snowbirds”, traveling from Limington to St. Petersburg, FL. in the winters.  The last 9 years of her life was spent with her daughter, Veronica and husband Peter in St. Petersburg and Sebring, FL.

She was an avid supporter of the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry at St. Catherine’s in Sebring.  Her membership with the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) at St. Catherine’s brought her joy.

There will be a small service with family and friends at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Sebring, date yet to be determined. In the fall her ashes will be taken to Maine and placed next to her husband Edmund at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.

Pearl was my first new friend after I lost my husband 24 years ago and moved into the same condo as her. She welcomed me into her family. We enjoyed so much time together, sewing, cooking, cards, dominoes, shopping, traveling and so much more. Many hours were spent in her florida room, rocking (we each had our own rocking chair), talking, ( oh how she loved talking about her family especially her grandchildren) laughing, and of course listening to music. We solved a lot of life's problems we thought. I will treasure our time together always and I personally want to thank Ronnie and Peter for taking such great care of my very best friend. I will be planting a lemon tree in her memory. Love and hugs. Judi Hopkins

So very sorry for your loss.
She is at peace reunited with all her loved ones who have gone before her.
Angels come in all shapes and sizes, God needed to call an angel home.
Hoping your sorrow will be eased knowing that she has been welcomed.
My regret is that I met her too late.
Kisses to all

I send my sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom. May your fond memories sustain you all in this time of grief. Pearl & Edmund were my god parents and I loved your family so much! Pearl sent me pictures and I still have her handwritten note. She was a very special lady! My fondest story is the one she told about me as a toddler ending up on her front porch knocking on the door. I guess I used to jump in bed with them! May God bless this most precious lady and keep her in his arms. Love Mary
