Our mother, wife, meme, sister, and aunt, Peggy Potter, 81, of Iowa Park was called to her Heavenly Home on February 13, 2025.
The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m., on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park, under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Peggy was born on July 12, 1943, to the late Odas and Opal (Brackeen) Blair, on Ferguson Ranch in Mankins, Texas. She graduated from Holliday High School in 1961. Peggy attended Mankins Baptist Church. At a revival in Mankins, a special dear friend, Ann Stone Jackson, walked Peggy and her best friend, Peggy Baggett, down the aisle to accept their Lord and Savior. She became friends for life with Ann, Peggy, Sue, and Betty.
Peggy met the love of her life, Donald Potter. The couple married on November 28, 1960, and spent the next 64 wonderful years together. Peggy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, where she served as a church hostess for many years. She also worked along her sister-in-law, Nina Wilburn, at the Hamilton Building Coffee Shop in Wichita Falls, as a cook and waitress. Later, Peggy owned the Bee Hive in Iowa Park, until a fire destroyed it. Peggy and Donald, with their daughter, Sheila, worked merchandising in the surrounding area, until 2021, when Peggy was unable to continue with a broken hip. Peggy will be missed by many family and friends.
Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Sandy Potter; two sisters, Ruby Elliott and Wanda Ruby; and her nephews.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Potter; son, Donald Potter Jr.; daughter, Sheila Conley and husband, Dan; son, Greg Potter; seven grandsons: Troy Potter (Jennifer), Toby Potter (Ashley), Zachary Conley, Jordan Conley, Christopher Wise, Cody Potter (Jamie), and Casey Potter (Cheyanne); five great-grandchildren: Nolan, Hannah, Nathaniel, Natalie, and Cooper Potter; sister, Laverne Copeland; and special cousins, nephews, and nieces that she loved dearly.

Peggy was a wonderful lady. I would frequently run into her at various stores where she merchandised and I serviced as well. Always a worker and always helping/serving others. Well done, good and faithful servant.

My mom! Oh how I will miss her. I spent almost every day helping take care of her since 2021 with the broke hip. I would never trade those days for anything else! I loved her so much! Mom loved all her relatives. If her kids, grandkids or anybody else wanted something. She didn’t care about the price. They got what they asked for. Mom loved the Potter nieces and nephews. Zachary said, The day mom was receiving the devastating news about her cancer. They ran into Debbie Kay & Mark. It just lit up her day! Mom loved going to Wills Point to all the family reunions. Mom did love Bradley & Jennifer. I remember the 1979 Wichita Falls tornado. When I got home, the twins were standing at the door. I pushed mom to fight through her pancreatic cancer and broke hips. She fought, until Thursday. The cancer grew and filled her stomach. There was nothing else to fight. She said, Around 9:00 am, I think it is time for me to go. She started her journey to Heaven! She took care of everybody’s needs and wants. She loved everybody.

The most God-fearing woman I ever met, she was always looking for ways to serve the Lord and her fellow man. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
