John L. Perryman
John Leonard Perryman died peacefully on July 15, 2017 at Munster Community Hospital at the age of 85.
John is survived by his wife , Mary Agnes, children Joseph and Michael, daughter in law Pearl, grandchildren Melissa, Mary Margaret, and John (Mallory), and great grandchildren Theodore, Hazel, and Colinanna. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith, father Leonard, and sister Barbara.
John was born on December 14, 1931 in Buffalo, Missouri. He was in the Air Force and is a Korean War Veteran. He graduated from Tri-State University in 1958 with an engineering degree. He moved to Gary, Indiana with his wife and worked and retired from the State of Indiana where he worked as an engineer.
John loved wood working and often made beautiful things for his family. He was a loving individual who would always go out of his way for his family and friends. He was very active in his grand children's lives and loved to spend time with them. They will remember him as a loving, patient Papa who was always there for anything they needed with a smile and never said no to a visit. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Highland Indiana for over 30 years and was most recently a member of St. James Church also in Highland Indiana.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Community Hospital for their wonderful and attentive care of John while he was there.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 DIRECTLY at St. James The Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Ave., Highland, IN 46322 with Rev. Keith M. Virus officiating. Services will conclude at church. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN (corner of Kennedy and Main) 46375 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 2:30 PM prayer service.
