Peter Hoxie, a devoted father and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 81 years old.
Born on February 1, 1944, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Peter was the son of John Alden Hoxie and Thelma Morris. Peter moved to Florida with his family as a young boy and graduated from Stranahan High School.
Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1970. Following his military service, he established a long and successful career as a skilled Automobile Mechanic.
Known for his funny, kind, witty, and caring nature, Peter had a magnetic personality that endeared him to everyone he met. He possessed a legendary "green thumb" and found immense joy in gardening and orchid farming.
Peter also devoted significant time to his daughters' music education, where they found more than friends - they all found family. His dedication helped create a close-knit community that was a central part of their lives.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, John Alden Hoxie and Thelma Morris, and his brothers, John and David. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Brittany and Kimberlee, and his cherished granddaughter, Hunter. He was a deeply caring and loving presence in their lives.

Pete was not just my neighbor—he became a brother to me. Over the past five years, we built a friendship that I will cherish for the rest of my life. When I learned he was a Vietnam Veteran, our connection deepened even more. We shared stories from our military service, laughed about the memories, and found comfort in experiences only fellow veterans can truly understand.
Pete was a mentor in every sense of the word. His life lessons, steady wisdom, and genuine kindness made a lasting impact on me. He always had the right advice at the right time, and I will carry those conversations with me forever.
He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, my brother. Thank you for your service, your friendship, and your guidance.

My condolences to Pete's family. Im Kieth his neighbors uncle. I come down from Richmond every year to fish. Pete was always hospitable to me allowing me to use his boat anytime I wanted. Always said something to make me laugh. I'm going to miss the splash of the iguanas hitting the canal whenI come down. Rest in peace my friend.

Pete, I’m sorry to hear of your passing but I’m grateful we had a chance to catch up a bit at the Panuzzo luncheon that butch threw for his dad. Year in and year out I could always count on you to run the football pool or the weekly lottery. You were a good mechanic and a great friend. For what it’s worth you will be in good company with Ricky, Tommy, Alan Jimmy and Art. Rest in peace.

Well there Pete, it was our pleasure to know and love you. Through the years of music, school and just your friendship. I am glad we got to see each other and talk about life. We'll be there for your girls if they need us. They will always be family. Swift journey to you. We love you.
