Not sure what to say?

Heidi and I are so sorry for your loss and sending you hugs and prayers during this difficult time!

Robert spent many years with me at Bloomsbury Properties, making significant contributions to the company and being a valued friend. He always had a joyful approach to life, and I can only say how painful it is to see him go. To his wife, Victoria, and his children and family, please accept my sincere condolences.

On the first day we met Robert, we asked if we could call him "Bob." He said, "You can't call me Bob unless you feed me!" We will miss Robert and his humor. Our thoughts are with your family. Olga and Roman

Robert's many friends in the Vienna pickleball community will miss his presence greatly. RIP, Old Friend...Ken Foley.

Robert's Obituary

Robert Michael Mechlin, 69, of Vienna, Virginia passed away on September 12, 2025, after several years of fighting a valiant battle against oral cancer. He was born on May 4, 1956, in Chevy Chase, MD. Robert spent his early life in Chevy Chase with his father Wilmer, an attorney, mother Lula Mae, a homemaker, and two older brothers, David and Peter. Robert attended the Bullis School where he played football, baseball and ice hockey. From there he studied at the University of Maryland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in Radio, Television, and Film, with a Minor in Astronomy. Following graduation Robert worked at local television stations, as well as cable and internet companies around the country. Robert married Victoria Jancek Mechlin on July 20, 2002, and over the next 24 years resided in multiple locations including Mclean, VA, Palm Beach FL, Brighton, England, and for the past 14 years in Vienna, Virginia. He was a devoted father to three children, sons Maximilian (28) and Sebastian (20), and daughter Stephanie (14). Robert loved nothing more than spending time with his family, as well as his many, many friends. For over a decade Robert worked for Bloomsbury Properties Inc., an international property sales and marketing company. Blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit he launched and developed multiple companies including Resort Homes Group, LLC and WebDesigns.net, which he led as CEO until his passing.Robert especially enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, with very memorable and multiple trips to the Caribbean and Europe. He was also a dedicated member of several local communities including Langley Swim and Tennis Club and Mclean Racquet and Tennis Club. He was also a committed and enthusiastic pickleball player, which he played as much as possible, until his illness prevented him from continuing. Robert found solace and community at St. Luke Catholic Church in Mclean, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25, beginning at 10:30AM followed by a reception in the adjoining Flaherty Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution through this GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/4b06241ea in his memory to support the financial burdens (Robert's enormous medical bills, mortgage and his daughter's college fund) that will now be the sole responsibility of his wife Victoria, who is also the primary legal guardian of their severely disabled, autistic son Sebastian.
