Philip C. “Phil” Muroski, 87, of Grove Street, Johnsonburg, passed away Monday evening, August 26, 2024, at his residence. Phil was born on September 10, 1936, in Johnsonburg, a son to the late Wade J. and Anne M. Kazmierski Muroski. On June 27, 1959, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Rose M. “Bing” Sereno. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2023.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Phil was a 1954 graduate of Johnsonburg High school. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and Central Hose Co. He had also been a member of the Rolfe Sportsmen’s Club. Phil enjoyed time with his family, playing cards, hunting and going to camp with the guys.
After graduating from High School, Phil enlisted and spent three years in the US Army, with service overseas and service at Ft. Belvoir, VA as a Specialist 3rd Class with the 153rd Transportation Detachment. Upon returning home, he worked at the Johnsonburg paper mill through several owners, retiring from Weyerhauser in 1998 after over 40 years of service.
He is survived by his children Phil Muroski (Jan) and Deb Williamson, grandson Matthew Muroski (Alicia), great-granddaughter Ava Rose Muroski and step-great-grandchildren Dominic, Landon and Kendall Holley, all of Johnsonburg.
Phil is also survived by a brother Thomas “Tom” Muroski (Mary Ellen) of Johnsonburg and a sister-in-law Mary Jane Muroski of Parlin, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Phil is predeceased by a son-in-law Scott Williamson and brothers Kenneth Muroski, Sr. and Leon Muroski.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Philip C. “Phil” Muroski, to be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Friday August 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as celebrant. Visitation will be private. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, PA.
