Phyllis C Ayers

Phyllis C Ayers passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 13, 2025.  Born in Louisburg, NC she moved to the Peninsula at a young age. Phyllis devoted her life to youth activities with a career helping students at CNU and recreational activities such as scouting, PTA, and youth ministries.

She was preceded in death by her husband William C Ayers and a son Claytor Ayers. Phyllis is survived by her two sons William Jason Ayers and Cpt. Steven Forrest Ayers along with her parents Ed and Maxine Cone.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2025 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, VA from 5:30-7pm. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Foundation.
