Phyllis Bailey Hurley

Phyllis Bailey Hurley, 85, of Princeton, WV passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born July 20, 1938 in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Elliott Bailey and Martha Jane Blankenship Bailey. Phyllis was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Craig Bailey, General Bailey, Theodore Bailey, Amos “Pig” Bailey, and Charles Truman Bailey; and three sisters, Lula Bailey, Birchie Bailey Hatfield, and Maxine Bailey Crockett. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hall, and husband Don of Princeton; granddaughter, Courtney Charles and husband Daniel of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren, Lilla, Fiona, and Thomas; special niece and nephew Serena Bailey and Charles Michael Bailey both of Princeton; one sister, Shelvie “Jackie” Lockhart and husband Jason of Galax, VA; and many nieces and nephews survive to mourn her loss. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Her ashes are to be interred at the Bailey Family Cemetery in Bull Creek, WV.
