Ralph Milano, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24, 2026, just four months shy of his 95th birthday. Ralph was born on July 26, 1931, and lived a long, full life centered around his family, his work, and the hobbies he loved.
Ralph was a skilled machinist by trade and a military veteran. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois, by his parents, Thomas and Violet “Valli” (née Viola) Milano. Following his marriage to his beloved wife, Shirley, the couple made their home in Elmwood Park, Illinois, where they resided for nearly 60 years. Together, Ralph and Shirley enjoyed traveling during their retirement, collecting meaningful souvenirs from their many trips, including memorable visits to exotic destinations such as Tahiti.
Ralph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to laugh and crack jokes, cook for family and friends, and reminisce about memories made and adventures taken. He was an avid fisherman and dedicated much of his time to hobbies such as gardening, coin collecting, stamp collecting, and bird watching. He loved music: listening to it, talking about it, and, in his younger years, going out and dancing to it with his beloved Shirley. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family whom he loved fiercely.
Ralph is survived by his loving children, Michael (Denise) Milano and Carol Milano; his three granddaughters, LeighAnn (Jake Tysiak) Lenz Tysiak, Alysondra (Bryce) Edwards, and Marissa Milano; and his great-grandson, Rowyn Edwards. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Milano (née Meer), and his parents.
Ralph will be deeply missed and long be remembered for the lasting memories he created with those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Research Institute and the Alzheimer's Association in his honor.
