Ramesh Hegde Obituary
Dr. Ramesh Subbayya Hegde, 81, of Wesley Chapel, Florida died peacefully in his home on Thursday October 7, 2021. Memorial services will be held at a time and place to be determined. Dr. Hegde was born October 1, 1940 in Karkala, India. On May 26, 1969 he married Sucharitha Hegde with whom he raised two sons, Sanjay and Vikram. A devoted father and husband, he was also a gifted student of science who achieved his PhD at the age of 28 and continued on in the field of chemistry throughout his life. In 1971 he moved to the United States with his wife to further pursue his career and saw great success in the field of water purification with the Millipore corporation. As a husband and father Dr. Hegde showed his wife and sons the world with many trips to foreign and domestic locales, always broadening his family’s horizons and reminding them how much there is to know and learn in this world. He was viewed as a father figure by many in his community, always welcoming those new to the country from India to share his wisdom and a seat at his table. In his later years he drew immense pleasure from spoiling his four grandchildren and watching in fascination as they grew right before his eyes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sucharitha Hegde, his older son Sanjay along with his wife Tanya, his younger son Vikram along with his wife Alexandra, his four grandchildren Miles, Anika, Nolan, and Viyona, his younger brother Suresh Hegde and his younger sister Sarala Shetty. He was greatly loved and respected by his community and will be sorely missed.

Looking through memory lane, was thinking of my initial days in America, as I was moving to a job in Millipore in Bedford MA from Millipore India, Ramesh was the go to person, along with Ven Raman always busy in their lab. Remember the Indian food at Ramesh´s house prepared by his wife Suchitra. It brought tears in every Millipore India visitor who had a chance to relish food that they missed for almost 3 weeks of basic training. Sorry to hear the passing of a beloved mentor and friend. Ramesh do Rest In Peace in heaven. May Suchitra and your family cherish all the fun moments you all spent together.

I always looked forward to being with Ramesh, whether at work of a social occasion. He was a powerful personality, knowlegeable, fun to be with and dangerous to argue with. I am deeply saddened by his passing and would like give my deepest condolences to his family.

I just heard about Ramesh's passing, I am so sorry and offer you my warmest condolences. Ramesh marked my life, he was my first boss, a mentor and a friend for so many years. You should know that he made significant contributions, both as a scientist and manager. I had enjoyed seeing him for lunch occasionally after retirement and I am sad I had not seen him after the move to Florida, I will miss him a lot. Dear Sucha, Sanjay, Vikram and family,
It was truly shocking to hear the news of Ramesh reaching his heavenly abode.
Sripad and I have known him & Sucha since the time I moved to the US in 1981 meeting at a music concert, introduced by a friend. A truly compasionate gentle person who was kind, caring, humorous and supportive of friends and family, Ramesh gave generously of himself to welcome us to their home. we have been receipients of a warm benevolent friendship.
Sucha & Ramesh rekindled my performing skills in dance by inviting me to perform at their Diwali event and the rest is history, encouraging my daughter's and my cultural pursuits.
Dear Ramesh/Uncle, you are truly missed and we pray for peace for you. Om shanthi. and for the family - Our heartfelt condolences and prayers for strength at this difficult time in your life.

I remember meeting Rameshanna for the first time in 1996 and promised myself not talk to him again and broke that promise the very next time I met him. We met Ramesh and Sucha when we moved to Westford in 1989. Since then Ramesh has been a mentor, friend, and a tennis partner. We cherish the fond memories of our get togethers, whether it is a summer cookout or Diwali dinner.
What a zest Ramesh had towards life or sports. He did make all conversations lively by injecting a doze of contrarian point of view.
Ramesh has left us with a big void which can’t be filled. His memory will live with us forever.
