Raul Rodriguez

1961 - 2018

Raul Rodriguez, age, 57, entered into eternal life Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at McAllen Medical Center due to a sudden illness. 

He was born on September 20, 1961 in McAllen to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mario and Elisa Leal Rodriguez. Raul attended and graduated from McAllen High School Class of 1979, he was proud of his Alma Mater and was a Bulldog all the way, he bled purple and gold. After high school Raul enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Longhorn fan. He loved sports and was his children's biggest fan following them wherever they played. He enjoyed being with his family and loved having a good time. Raul was a servant of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He attended and was a member of Liberty Temple Church in Pharr where he loved to spend time reflecting and talking to God and volunteering with any work around the church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be missed dearly.

Raul leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memory, his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Maria Elena (Nena) Rodriguez; children, Raul Rodriguez Jr. (Brinda Marie), Lizette Marie Rodriguez, Jake John Rodriguez (Karina), and Michael Anthony Garza; two granddaughters, Alexia Nicole Rodriguez, & Evee Ann Rodriguez; his brothers and sisters, Mario Rodriguez (Vangie), Juan "Johnny" Rodriguez (Gracie), Diana R. Rodriguez (Juan Resendez), Antonio "Tony" Rodriguez (Gabriella), Elisa "Lisa" Fuentes (Raul), Rosalinda "Rosie"Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez (Raquel), Ricardo "Ricky" Rodriguez and David Rodriguez (Maria). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Raul is preceded in death by his parents, Mario and Elisa L. Rodriguez, and a sister, Yolanda Rodriguez Pena.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm in the evening with Rev. Salome Villarreal officiating of Liberty Temple Church at Trinity Funeral Chapel.

Chapel Service of Funeral Liturgy will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Funeral Chapel.

Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 24, 2018 at 9:00 am at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission with full military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 205.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Alejandro "Alex" Anzaldua, Raul Rodriguez Jr., Jake John Rodriguez, "Mikey" Michael Anthony Garza, Robert Rodriguez, and Cesario G. Araguz. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Rodriguez, Tony Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Ricky Rodriguez.
