Raymond Davis Obituary
Raymond Jake Davis, age 84, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his home in Marion, VA.
Mr. Davis was born in Saltville, VA to the late William Davis and Ocie Stillwell Davis and was preceded in death by his son, Charles Davis; brother, Bill Davis; sisters, Shirley Quillen and Betty Sue Blevins.
Raymond was retired from the Smyth County Vocational School after 30 years of service. He loved tinkering in his shop and fishing with his grandson and friends.
Survivors include, his wife of 64 years, Patsy Davis; daughter, Patty Turilli and husband Tony; grandson, Corbin Turilli; several nieces and nephews to include a special nephew, Billy Davis also survive.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Wassum Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Wade Kestner officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital at www.stjudes.org. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Home of Marion is serving the Davis family.

Loved working with Raymond at SCTC for 31 years; found something good about each day, always with a smile. He was a great teacher, husband, father and father-in-law, and grandfather. He will be missed. Sincere sympathy to you, his family! He will rest in peace!

I became friends with Raymond several years ago. I work in Marion on several construction jobs. Raymond repaired several small engine tools for me. I would visit him and he would tell me of his fishing adventures with his grandson and how they would talk , Raymond called it stump secession. I took his great advice on several life lessons we would discuss and passed them to my sons . Raymond was a good friend and although I haven’t seen him for a long time I cherished our friendship. I would bring him apple butter and he and his wife would find my Jobsite in town to come by and thank me. I know he was loved by many and I consider myself very grateful to have known him.

I have a lot of good memories with Aunt Pat and Uncle Raymond. I'll never forget when I was younger and they took me on vacation with them to Florida and we went out in the swamp on a boat. He was a really good man who believed in God and lived his life accordingly. I'm so sorry for the loss that Aunt Pat, Patty, Tony and Corbin are enduring now. God bless all of them! I would like to include this prayer: Dear gracious heavenly Father, Lord I humbly ask that You be with my family in their time of sorrow and loss. Lord that you give them strength, courage and comfort through each passing day. And Lord that You lead and guide them each step of the way. Uncle Raymond is with You now Lord and he reunited with Charlie, what a reunion that must have been!
