Rebecca "Becky" Burggraaf Setterberg, a remarkable woman of grace, wit, and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 19, 1944, in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor County, Washington, to Maxwell Vernon Burggraaf and Orpha Francom, who predeceased her. Becky's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy found in life's simplest pleasures.


Becky embarked on her life's journey in Salt Lake City, where she graduated from East High School. Her pursuit of knowledge and passion was where she worked as a Senior Research Specialist in cancer research for over 50 years. Helping others led her to a fulfilling career at the University of Utah, where she made significant contributions to cancer research. Her work was characterized by dedication and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those battling illnesses.


On July 26, 1989, Becky married the love of her life, Glenn B. Setterberg, embarking on an adventure that spanned decades and was filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family and shared a deep love for horses and animals. Becky's life was adorned with the joy of chariot racing alongside Glenn and the shared delight of spending long, cherished days riding horses. Whether camping with family or enjoying time at the Boat Club, Becky found her greatest happiness surrounded by those she loved.


Becky was the proud and loving mother of Glenn (Kitty) Setterberg, Valerie Naylor, Kent (Mimi) Setterberg, Troy (Victoria) Setterberg, and Angela (Gary) Grygla. and siblings, Samuel (Farelyn) Burggraaf and Susan (Larry) Glavinic, carry forward her legacy of kindness, compassion, and strength. Becky was blessed with 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, nieces and nephews whom she adored, each a testament to the love she poured into her family.


Becky was known for her quick wit and warm, welcoming smile. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued and at home, her kindness and generosity leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her charitable spirit extended far beyond her immediate circle, as she donated to a wide array of causes close to her heart, ensuring her legacy of giving would continue to touch countless lives.


The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of Becky's associates at the Riverton Senior Center where she volunteered for 15 years, taking on multiple responsibilities teaching line dancing was what she enjoyed the most. Your companionship and the joy you shared with her during her time there were truly cherished.


As we celebrate the life of Rebecca Setterberg, we are reminded of the light she brought into the world. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, a beacon of love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Becky's name, continuing her legacy of generosity and care.
