Rev. Carl's Obituary

REV. CARL M. HARDY, SR transitioned to his heavenly home on June 1, 2018 after a long illness, his wife and family by his side.  He was born on October 2, 1946 in Senoia, GA to the late Mr. Denver Hardy Sr. and Mrs. Addie George Hardy.  He was preceded in death by his brothers   Denver J. Hardy Jr., Willie B. Hardy, Ralph Hardy Sr., and two sisters, Grace Hardy and Annie Elder.

 Rev. Hardy grew up in College Park, GA and attended South Fulton High School.  He continued his education at Atlanta Area Technical College where he studied Machine Engineering.  He was employed at Lockheed Martin for many years and later employed by General Electric for 19 years. He retired from Wilson Art in 1999. 

Rev. Hardy was called into the ministry at an early age.  He was ordained into the ministry in 1978 by the Church of God and Christ in Savannah, GA.  He was the pastor of Wynn Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, College Park, GA, and Disciples of Christ, Atlanta, GA.  In 1999 he joined Peek’s Chapel Baptist Church and became a member of the Ministerial Staff where he served over the Sick and Shut-In Ministry until his health failed.  Rev. Hardy served as Co-Pastor and Interim Pastor for many different churches over the years.  

Rev. Hardy enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.  Taking care of the grandchildren was one of his greatest joy.  He loved children.  He had a passion for raising chickens, turkeys and other animals. He also enjoyed relaxing in front of the television watching country and western movies.  Rev. Hardy’s greatest joy was his work in the ministry.

Rev. Hardy is survived by his wife Mother Virginia Martin Hardy; a daughter, Sabrina (Maurice) Mathis; five sons, Carl (Latarsha) Hardy, Jr., Frederico (Ayesha) Hardy, Trevaro (Carmita) Hardy, Walter Hardy Sr. and Daiquiris Brooks; four brothers, Walter Hardy, Leonard Hardy, Sr. Arthur Frank (Dorothy) Hardy, Sr. and Andrew Hardy, Sr.; two sisters, Barbara (Richard) Malone and Mary Hickson; four brother-in-laws, Rev. Dwight Elder Sr., William (Diane) Knight, Paul Beach and Jessie (Josephine) Beach; three sisters-in-laws, Maureen (Willie) Bullock, Joanne Singfield and Bierdie (Steven) Williams; twenty-eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; A devoted neighbor Neal Harper, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
