Ricardo Botello Sr., 79, of San Antonio, Texas peacefully passed away on Friday May 31, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Ricardo was born April 21, 1940 in Encinal, Texas to Antonio and Ramona Botello. He was a man of few words, a man who never met a stranger, gentle soul, self-made man, dedicated, a man of integrity. At 16 he left Texas to leave behind the pain of his parent’s death and moved to California for 5 years. At 21 he returned and knew he would make a life in San Antonio. He began working for Church's Fried Chicken in downtown San Antonio and met the love of his life, Anita, in 1963. Ricardo was part of management for 25 years and after his retirement from Church's he encouraged his wife to have her beauty salons throughout the west side of San Antonio. He worked for San Antonio Light Newspaper for 5 years and managed a PikNik store for 12 years.
He enjoyed fishing off the pier in Copano Bay, Rockport, Texas. Every chance he could he would take his wife and children. He also taught his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews the ways of fishing. He would take trips to Rockport and lakes with his boat.
He loved the Dallas Cowboys, football was the only sport worth watching. Hunting, gambling, spending hours walking back and forth to the corner store or have his daughter drive him around to purchase scratch off lottery tickets. He enjoyed having his family visit and spending time with them. Most of all his wife. Ricardo was loved by all, a gentle soul. Waved at all and had a smile that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Ramona Botello; sister, Elida Garcia; brothers, Antonio (Virgina), Ruben, Luis (Juanita); nephew, Ricardo Antonio Botello.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Anita Diaz Botello, his 3 children Ricardo Botello Jr., Roy D. and Lucinda Botello, and Anita Botello; his sister-in-law, Marina Botello. 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces.
