RICHARD J. "DICK" BAKOSH Richard J. "Dick" Bakosh, 75, of Livingston, died at Livingston HealthCare Hospital Thursday morning, August 29, 2013. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A celebration of Richard's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8 at Sacajawea Park. Dick was born on April 21, 1938 in Albany, Calif., the son of Czechoslovakian immigrants John and Zuzanna (Klimant) Bakosh. He graduated from Albany High School and attended Cal Berkeley on a scholarship. In 1958, he wed Janice Philpot and they moved to Pleasant Hill, Calif. Dick had a long career in the retail industry, working his way up to management at Park-n-Shop Grocery, a family owned business. Having a wondering soul, he moved his family first to Walnut Creek, then Bennet Valley in Santa Rosa, and finally to Fairfield, Calif. In 1995, in order to be near his youngest son, Dick moved to Livingston where he remained. He liked the wildness, the old time feel, the slower life style, and of course, "The Big Sky". In his earlier years Dick liked to go pheasant hunting and had a deep affection for dogs, raising several Champion Labrador Retrievers. He enjoyed building and constructing and was an avid collector of model cars, planes, coins, old tools, anything that hit his fancy. An entire room was dedicated to family history including old passports, photos and honors. He was an avid reader, having said he read every last book in his library. Dick was preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline and Eleanor. He is survived by his loving children, Deborah Ainsworth and her husband, Eric of Greensborough, Calif.; and sons, Robert Bakosh and his wife, Debbie of Vacaville, Calif. and Fred Bakosh and his wife, Cindy of Wilsall, Mont. He was blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren, Nicole and Kelli Aguirre, Robert and Shelly Bakosh, Amanda, Melissa and Vanessa Bakosh. He also has two beautiful great-grandchildren, Briana and Ryder, with another little boy due in November. Our father will be missed and we wish him peace, collecting and an abundance of building on his new journey.
