Richard Decky Sr passed away from illness on May 31, 2020 at 69 years old. Mr. Decky is survived by his wife Carla Decky(nee Steiner), his son Richard Decky Jr, and his daughter Jennifer Decky(Christos). Mr. Decky is survived by 2 brothers Michael Decky(Betty Ann), and Stephen Decky(Jean). He also has 5 nephews (Stephen(Brooke), Kevin(Allison), Shawn(Ali), Michael, Brian) and 1 niece (Michelle).
Mr. Decky was born in Philadelphia on October 23, 1950 to Stephen Decky Sr(Deceased) and Anna Decky(Deceased). He was the definition of born and raised in Philly. He was married to Carla September 7, 1974. He attended Spring Garden College and received his degree in Metallurgy in 1978. That same year their family grew with a son, Richy. Mr. Decky worked as a metallurgist until injuries sidelined him years later. The Decky family was completed in 1989 with the addition of a daughter, Jennifer.
Mr. Decky was an active member of the F & AM Mozart Lodge #436, Grottoes of North America and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Decky took great pride in his membership with those groups. He served as Boy Scout Master for Troop #499 for many years and lead the best bunch of misfits Fishtown could offer. A die hard Eagles fan, Mr. Decky always got his Eagles updates and even had a “ Bad call” brick handy during games. He was an avid beach goer of Seaside Heights/Park where he enjoyed a good portion of his retirement metal detecting, professional surfing, fishing, and playing at Lucky Leo’s with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday eve 6-9 pm and Friday 10am to 10:45 am BURNSFUNERAL HOME 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila. Pa. 19114 followed by his service 11am INT. Oakland Cemtery.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that anyone willing to make a donation please make it directly to the family to assist with the growing medical bills accrued from Mr. & Mrs. Decky’s extensive hospital stays of more than 2 months. Carla is still in a long term acute care facility battling the same illness that Mr. Decky succumbed to. The family also encourages anyone to please share their favorite memories of Mr. Decky so that Carla, especially, and the rest of the family can read them at a later time
