Lil and Dee my heart is beyond broken for you all. My sweetest friend, Richard, you are dearly missed. God called your gentle soul too soon for us here on this earth. Your friendship was such a special treasure and holds a very special place in my heart, today and forever. That look youd give me and so many others followed with your infectious smile always made me laugh and warmed my heart on and off the field. What will the holidays be like without our shared greeting texts? Not the same. God always takes the good ones. Until we meet again, my friend. Until we meet again!

Real Deal Brother, not to mention, a valuable asset to the human family. Truly a GREAT LOSS to his immediate and the human family. We truly need more like him. To the family, Rich has merely passed the baton to the next generation.

I worKed with Richard at Avondale. He was one of my few favorite people. If I was having a super crappy day at work (which are many) he would ALWAYS cheer me up and make me smile. He had such a nice mellow voice and enviable disposition. He was the type of person I wish I could be like. I will miss his pst psst!, just to get my attention. I will miss his smile and him at work. He made it a better place to be.

My heart and soul go out to you all for your loss. Richard was loved by so many. Such a wonderful person

I will miss him lots.

I am so sorry and heartbroken. Richard was one of the good guys. He was the kind of coach that every kid loved to have as a coach. He was a great teacher of the game and loved working with kids. He never lost his temper, never yelled and still managed to get his point across. He will be dearly missed by all. Another amazing person has been taken too early. Prayers go out to the family.

Richard Holmes will be dearly missed by me. We spent time in Marinette WS in the same house while we where contract for Marinette Marine.
Funny story: Richard and I cam back to Avondale shipyard. A friend, who did not know Richard, was with me walking down the hallway. Richard was coming towards up and as Richard got close to passing us, I said, whats up Holmes.
My friend was shocked that I said it in that way. My reply was thats his last name. My friend let out a sigh of relief and laughed. Richard laughed also.
