Richard (Dick) Husson, born in 1934, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a lasting legacy to his family and friends.
Growing up in Manchester, NH, Dick attended Bakersville School, where he developed a passion for sports, playing baseball and basketball, while also participating in CYO sports for Blessed Sacrament Church. He was in the class of 1952 at Central High School, where he continued to excel in basketball and football.
Inspired by patriotism and service, Dick proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1957, achieving the rank of Sergeant in just two years—a testament to his dedication and leadership. It was at the wedding of his best friend from the Marine Corp he met his future wife, Mercedes (Cedie). After his service, Dick moved to Philadelphia to be near his fiancé, working for Pittsburg Plate Glass.
Following their marriage, Dick and Cedie returned to New Hampshire, where he worked alongside his father at Acme Glass Co. In 1981, Dick purchased the company, and Cedie joined him in business a few years later, working together until their retirement.
Dick served for several years as the president of the Memorial High School booster club, creating several longstanding supporting events. Along with his father, Dick enjoyed great success racing Lightning Class sailboats around the New England circuit. He loved skiing, fishing, solving daily crossword puzzles and playing all forms of backyard sports with his children and neighborhood kids.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mercedes (DiGirolamo); his children, Michael Husson and his wife Karri Harlan of Manchester, David Husson and his wife Laura Husson of Bourne, MA, and William Husson and his wife Kim of Derry, NH. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Thomas, Chris, Andrew, and Emily, as well as two great-grandchildren, Peter and Luke.
Services: A calling hour will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 9 to 10 AM at St. Pius X Parish Church, 575 Candia Rd, Manchester, NH 03109.
A mass of Christian burial will follow in the church at 10 AM.
