Richard Jones Obituary

Richard Edward “Dick” Jones, Sr., of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 1st, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late George and Evelyn (Bowman) Jones.

Devoted husband of nearly 69 years to his wife, Carlene (Riedel) Jones; loving father of Karen (Wayne) Tucker, Julie (Scott) Engel and Richard Jones, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Jenna Jones, Julene (Nathaniel) Crumley, Carlene (Anthon) Ostergaard and Matthew Jones; great grandfather of Lane, Deacon and Wade Crumley, and Christian Ostergaard; brother of the late George Jones; uncle to Kevin, Kenny and Kris Jones, Jay Riedel, Jr., Reva (John) Abell and Joyce Taggert.

After graduating from Sycamore High School, Dick served three years in the National Guard. He loved the Lord and was devoted to his faith, family and country. Dick operated Jones Construction often managing demolition, heavy and highway construction projects. He was involved with The Gideons International, mission trips to Russia, and enjoyed cars, racing, and wintering in Florida. We will miss his fun-loving presence and bright smile.

Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm Wednesday, November 5th at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241. Interment will follow onsite at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Dick came from a large, extended Jones family. Our fathers were brothers, meaning Dick and I were first cousins, out of many.

For some reason, Dick thought my mom made the best tuna fish sandwiches, which gave us a laugh after we were grown because mom did nothing special to the tuna!

Being 9 years older than me, I can’t ever remember a time when the family got together that Dick wasn’t there.

I’m sorry we didn’t get to attend his funeral. Rest in Peace, Dick!
