Richard's Obituary

Richard G. Kistler Sr., 88, of Ocean View, DE and formerly of Northampton, PA, passed away in peace on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, surrounded by family. He was a son of the late Albert H. Kistler and Bernice (Jones) Kistler. Richard was a loving husband for 67 years to Theresa M. (Unger) Kistler. He graduated from Milby High in Milby, TX. Richard was employed for 40 years at Western Electric/Lucent Technologies, where he was an operating engineer and a member of the IBEW. After retirement, he worked at the Northampton Recreational Center for 10 years. Richard was a longtime coach at the Northampton Athletic Association and was involved with the Northampton Wrestling Boosters. He served on the Northampton Area School District Board of Education. Richard spent many summers at Tuckahoe Acres Campground in Dagsboro, DE, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing with family and friends.

Survivors; his wife Theresa, his children, Richard G. Kistler Jr. (Kathleen J.) of Ocean View, DE, and David A. Kistler (Suzanne J.) of Millsboro, DE; grandchildren, Rebecca Claire Kistler and Nathan David Kistler; sister, Beth A. Kistler and sister-in-law, Sister Stephanie Marie. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas E. Kistler.

Services: A visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will be in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton. Arrangements are under the care of Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton. Online condolences may be offered below. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends
