Richard G. LaTerra, 78 of New London, died Thursday June 19, 2025, at Harbor Village in New London. Richard was born on November 28, 1946, in Bronx, New York to Saverio LaTerra and Helen Ryan LaTerra.
Richard earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of New Haven and worked as a payroll analyst for Electric Boat in Groton, CT until his retirement in 1998. Following retirement, Richard lived for 12 years at the Martin House in Norwich, CT until he was transferred to Harbor Village Nursing Home in 2009 where he resided until his death.
Richard was a gentle soul who enjoyed spending time with family, listening to 70’s rock music, and enjoying strawberry milkshakes at Michael’s Dairy in New London.
He is survived by his sister Karen LaTerra and her partner Richard Briggs as well as his niece Jennifer Sprague, nephews Jeremy Sprague, Tyler Sprague, and Travis and Corey Briggs.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Eva LaTerra (2007) and stepbrother Kimberly Sprague (2024).
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00am Monday June 30, 2025 at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.

So sorry to hear of Richard´s passing, we were good friends on Mumford Ave in Groton often getting in mischief of one sort or another...
He will be missed.
