Richard Mouhot Obituary

Richard Carlton “Rick” Mouhot, 63, of Moss Bluff passed away unexpectedly at 3:26 AM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

Mr. Mouhot was born on July 20, 1958, in Kinder.  He was raised in Lake Charles where he was a graduate of Barbe High School and then moved to Moss Bluff in 1990.  Mr. Mouhot worked in the chemical industry as a maintenance scheduler, currently for Phillips 66.  He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff where he was a Deacon and past small group leader.

He took pleasure in traveling and taking cruise trips with his family and volunteered on mission trips both nationally and internationally.  He enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time.  His most cherished treasure was his family and spending time with them.  He was affectionally called “Papa” by his beloved grandchildren.  Mr. Mouhot will be remembered as a hard worker who adored his family and had a loving and caring heart.  He is leaving behind a legacy as a role model and leader to many.  Mr. Mouhot had a huge impact on this community and will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate to be a part of his life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Mona Anderson Mouhot of Moss Bluff; his sons, Jeremy Mouhot (Amanda) and David Mouhot (Chancey) all of Moss Bluff; his mother, Gloria Mouhot of Lake Charles; brothers, Mike Mouhot and Greg Mouhot (Tara) all of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Brayden, Maddie Grace, Levi, Brennan, Laina Kate, Luke, and Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Henry Mouhot.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 9, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff.  The Rev. Jack Tillery and Rev. Steve Bennett will officiate.  Burial will follow in Creel Cemetery in Bel, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin in the church on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.

Rick was the example for other men to follow. He was faithful to God, his family and to his friends. I served with Rick at faith walk and FBC prison ministry at Angola. Rick always greeted you with a smile a handshake and he Was very easy to talk too. Rick was wise beyond his years and He left an awesome legacy for his family. Rick was loved By many and he will be missed. Well done good and faithful servant!

Rick made it known that he trusted His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he'd proclaim the gospel lovingly yet boldly every chance he got. That's the best thing anyone could testify about anyone. He's in Heaven now, so we are praying the Holy Spirit's comfort on Mona and the rest of the family as they no doubt miss Rick tremendously. One day soon and very soon the Lord Jesus will come back in the clouds to Rapture all true believers trusting in Him, so be ready as the signs of the times converge daily. Maranatha!!

I've known Rick for many years at P66. We were more work acquaintances then work friends which is to say that we never worked closely. We would say Hi in passing. The last 2 weeks I came across Rick twice. He asked me how are you and I sarcastically said another day in paradise to which we both laughed and I said hopefully this isn't paradise Rick and he confidently responded no it isn't Aaron I can show you in the book where it describes paradise. I responded yeah you right. Then last week I passed him again he said Aaron how are you doing and I responded incredibly blessed, he responded me 2 brother. To the Mouhot family know of my prayers for you as you mourn. To Mr Rick, May you rest in that paradise you knew so much about. Eternal rest grant to Rick oh Lord and may your perpetual light shine upon him.

Such an example to so many people; how to lead; how to serve; how to love; how to be honorable; how to be modest; how to be a friend; how to be a father; how to be a husband...it's an unending list of things that each of us should strive for and Rick lived the example for all to see. I mourn with each of you and pray for peace and comfort. God bless. I regret that I'll be out of town during the memorials but my thoughts will be with you all.
