Richard E. Pierson, 86 of Vienna, formerly of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna, Illinois.
He was born March 27, 1932 in Centralia, son of Corwin Pierson and Naomi (Wilkinson) Pierson.
He is survived by six children: Mary Elyse Millizer of Paducah, KY; Richard Brian Pierson of Dallas, TX; William Todd Pierson of Murphysboro, IL; Lawrence Edwin Pierson of Carbondale, IL; Christopher Sean Pierson of St. Louis, MO; Elena Nicole Pierson of Chicago, IL, 6 Grandchildren; and a sister: Pat Ball of Centralia.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Corwin and Naomi Pierson of Centralia, IL; Son: Timothy Kevin Pierson of Carbondale, IL and first wife: Mary Carole Hart-Pierson of Murphysboro, IL
Richard served in the United State Army. He enjoyed traveling, hunting & fishing, camping, and gardening. He also loved listening to Jazz music. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. He never met a stranger.
Graveside Services for Richard E. Pierson will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055.
