Richard “Rick” F. Tabaczynski, 80, of Dearborn passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Rick was born March 2, 1945, the son of Frank and Helen (Kalinowski) Tabaczynski. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette, two children, Elizabeth Duperron and James (Kelly) Tabaczynski, and five grandchildren, Claire, Jack, Grace, Lincoln, and Mila.
Rick served his community for 32 years, retiring as a police officer. He also worked for Schoolcraft College – Police Academy as an instructor for more than 12 years. He loved serving his community, mentoring young officers, and the family created within the career he so loved.
Rick loved fishing and gardening and his happiest times were spent with his family.
Rick loved swimming with his kids and grandkids in the backyard oasis he grew and built over the years. He attended every play, game, and event for his kids and grandkids, always beaming with pride and love.
Rick’s favorite time of year was summer where he would garden and grow the best tomatoes and was a Michigan corn connoisseur. He loved vacations and traveling anywhere with family. His favorites being Walt Disney World and Houghton Lake.
Rick’s family is so proud of the husband, father, and grandfather he was and of how many lives he touched. His legacy will live on in each of us.
Rick’s visitation will take place at Howe-Peterson 22546 Michigan Ave, Dearborn on Thursday, February 19, from 3:00-8:00pm. A service will be held on Friday, February 20 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am.
Memorial contributions in Rick’s name may be made to either St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Sorry for your loss. I did not know your dad Elizabeth but the pictures describe him perfectly. He was a kind man who loved his family. The snuggles in the chair with kids and grandkids is precious. All of you have many many great memories to keep close to your heart forever. Thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve your loss.

So many thoughts and prayers to everyone feeling Tab's loss. He was awesome, one of my people. We shared recipes and love of our Polish heritage. He will be missed dearly. Until I see you again Tab...Na zdrowie!
