Richard J. Wroblewski, 88, was called to Heaven on December 27, 2025, at his home in Lemont, Illinois surrounded by loving family. Richard was born March 20, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, one of three children of Stanley and Margaret (Pavloski) Wroblewski. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lillian, his parents, his brother Jerome Robel and numerous other cherished family members.
Richard is survived by his sons Kenneth (Maria) Wroblewski, Thomas (Julianna) Wroblewski, Mark (Deborah) Wroblewski and daughter Linda Wroblewski; his grandchildren Kenneth (Meredith), Nicholas (Katie), Alexa (Nicholas) Barnhill, Thomas (Gina Talarico), Justin (Amanda), Samantha (Devin) Mussell, Mark John (Cheryl) and Melissa; his great-grandchildren Olivia, Noemi, Audrey, Colette, Maeve and Tommy; his sister Rosemary and other family members and dear friends.
Richard spent most of his working career as a route salesman for the Fasano Pie Company in Bedford Park for over 30 years and developed strong relationships with his many customers and colleagues alike. He later worked as a tree surgeon for the Chicago Park District before he fully retired. He enjoyed the Christmas holiday with his family and was known for elaborate holiday decorations. He truly enjoyed spending time in Florida with his many friends, holding court in the hot tub every afternoon, earning him the affectionate title of “Mayor of the Sunrise Resort” by his family. In his younger days he was always a person his children could count on if they had household projects, never hesitating to lend a hand. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and loved model trains as an avid LGB train collector for many years. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 9AM to 10:30AM at the Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois Street, Lemont, IL 60439, followed by Mass at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, 608 Sobieski St. in Lemont at 11AM. Interment will be immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, 7201 Archer Rd. in Justice, Illinois.

We’ve only known Rich the last four years at the sunrise, but always enjoyed talking to him and came to think of him, as mentioned as the “mayor” of sunrise he will truly be missed by those lucky enough to know him. Our sincere sympathy to his family.
