Richard Carl Zurawski, a man who lived life as vibrant and loud as his signature whistle, peacefully completed his journey on his 93rd birthday, January 28,2026.
A self-described “recycled teenager” and “transportation engineer” by trade, Richard affectionately know as “The Big Dick – was a true extrovert who turned every restaurant walk to his table into a chance to meet a new friend. Above all, he was the selfless bedrock of his family: the man who remodeled numerous houses with his daughter, drywalled garages single-handedly and the kept the neighborhoods finest lawn with a secret recipe he guarded with pride.
Whether he was teaching his grandchild to drive or standing on the sidelines to every game, you always knew he was there when he gave his signature whistle that vibrated the walls. He never missed a moment to show up for his family that he loved so much.
He leaves behind a legacy of humor and selfless devotion in his beloved wife, Lillian, his children, Michael, Debbi (Bob) Jambrone-Oriole: his grandchild, Joseph (Sommer) Jambrone, Marissa (Morgan) Shearer-Jambrone, Jordan Villa: and his great grandchild Lilly Marie and Ella Marie, all of whom will forever listen for his whistle in the wind.

Lil, So sorry to hear about this. Both you and Dick were great friends of my Family and I wish I had know about this earlier so I could have really express my respect to you both. He was a real Jokester and when ever he saw me he would always have fun with my name. My prayers go out to you and everyone in the family.

Dear Lil & Family, It is with sadness that we have heard about the passing of Cousin Richard & I would like to extend our sympathies on the loss of such a beloved family member. From his boisterous storytelling to his sharing of the famous pound cake recipe, Richard made an indelible mark on me. My Father always spoke so fondly of his cousin & the adventures they shared. I’m sure my Dad, Cousin Leonard, was amongst the first to greet him in heaven & that their adventures will pick up where they left off. May your wonderful memories sustain you during your time of grief.
