Rita Renee Curry, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was a resident of Franklin, Indiana.
She was born on October 8, 1944 in Rock Island, Illinois to Elvis and Gladys (Flattum) Jones. She married C. Allen Curry on November 24, 1962. She is survived by children, Kimberly Jackson (Tony), Tammi Doss, Michelle Whittington, Chris Curry (Kim), Chad Curry (Lora), Erin Latham (Jeremiah), Eric Curry (Melissa); as well as seven adopted children, two living at home, Tina Curry and Sean Curry; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary and Jeff Jones and sister, Donna Linneman. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, C. Allen Curry; and brothers, Dennis and Craig Jones.
Rita was a 1962 graduate of Franklin Community High School.
Rita worked for United Telephone Company and also worked as a switchboard operator at Franklin College. She was employed by the Indiana Masonic Home as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Rita was a foster parent for many years. She won a “Foster Parent of the Year” award. She also was employed by Johnson Memorial Hospital in various positions.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Franklin. She traveled on two mission trips to Haiti.
Rev. Tracy Ross will conduct a celebration of Rita’s life on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with calling from 11:00 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Memorial contributions may be made for the ongoing care of Sean and Tina Curry, adopted children of Rita’s.
