Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Allen Dover, 58, Paxton, Illinois, will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells, Paxton with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Bob passed away April 22, 2019 at the family farm House.
Bob was born May 10, 1960 in Paxton to Hilda Louise Hanson and William Lowell Dover.
Bob started his education initially being homeschooled, later graduating from Centennial High School in Champaign. He received a degree in History from the University of Illinois. He was currently an eighth grade Social Studies teacher at JW Eater Junior High School in Rantoul.
Bob had an exuberant amount of love for his nieces and nephews. He especially loved taking them to lunch, dinner, movies, Illinois basketball games and to the occasional bar in Champaign.
Bob was a huge sports fan, always watching the Fighting Illini and Chicago Cubs.
Bob loved music; attending a wide variety of concerts as often as he could. He loved nothing more when all his sisters and families could come to the farm house and jam out to music, play cards, eat a ton, and yes have a few drinks. He had such a big heart. Bob loved being around his family and friends as much as possible.
Survivors include his brother, Benjamin Dover of Paxton, sisters; Diane Bennett of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Linda (Michael) Carl of Salina, Kansas, Marylin (Brian) Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, Beverly (John) Jones of Oxford, Arkansas, nieces; Amber Carl of Lenexa, Kansas, Jordan Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, Alexis Runyan of Oxford, Arkansas, nephews; Jason Carl of Salina, Kansas, Michael (Jared Covert) Carl of Lenexa, Kansas, Bryce Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, great-nephew, Brayden Peed of Ottawa, Illinois, and huge host of close friends.

My relationship with Bob started at work (Cingular, then AT&T Wireless), but went much beyond that. Bob & I would talk basketball, wheelchair basketball, current events ... and about anything & everything else. I was part of his "teams" on & off at Rantoul for years (always knowing I'd get a more than fair shake working for him as the manager). More than a few times we could be seen tearing into some Monicals or going to the local Mexican restaurant during the mid-time of our workday.
He stood up for himself and his teams (in this day & age, that is starting become a rare thing). Bob was the cornerstone of getting previous AT&T workers together at BW's where we could reflect back on our time when we were manning the phones at the call center. I will always have fond memories of Bob & was blessed to know him as a friend & colleague.
Rest in Peace, Bob.

I was able to visit Bob sporadically when he was subbing in Rantoul schools and I was entering or leaving to work with students. He was so dedicated to the teaching profession. I am certain the students and staff who knew him will grieve his loss. I have many memories of him at Westminster church as he played his guitar for worship, enjoyed fellowship at Christmas and Euchre parties, and bringing joy to others with his positive outlook.

Bob was my Kungfu brother and we spent many hours training and learning from one another. We would see each other from time to time out and about in Champaign Urbana. Most recently we met at a teaching workshop in Rantoul. I was surprised and very sorry to hear of his passing. I share me deep condolences with his family and friends.

I was sorry to hear of Bobs passing. Bob was a good friend. I first met Bob at Songs kung fu training Academy. Bob trained very hard and he had a heart of gold. Bob was not just a student. I can remember one of our sparring sessions where Bob did really well. He taught me how to overcome some issues. Bob you will always be in my heart, mind, and soul. I could never forget you. To the Dover family, much love much respect and prayers of peace.

So sorry for your loss. Bob and I worked together as Managers at AT&T, which is where I learned about his love for family, friends, music, the Illini, and our joint love for the Chicago Cubs. I hope your dancing in heaven with your Mother and Father. May you rest in peace!

I have so many memories of Bob. I met him when he was in his late 20s. He taught one of my classes at Westminster Pres. Christian School and attended our church. He would often meet me at the church and we would practice piano/guitar duets of all kinds of music. Another favorite memory is driving by Pizza Man and seeing if his car was there (which it often was on the weekend) and I and other teens from the church would hang out with him, have breadsticks, play cards and tell stories. He had such an easy laugh and great sense of humor! I know he has touched so many lives. My prayers for the family, Bob will be missed!

When I first met Bob, he was a shy 14 year old. I was his bus driver. Later he joined my church and I advocated for a ramp to be built so he could come whenever he pleased. He definitely outgrew his shyness and became a wonderful teacher and a valued friend to many!!! Bob.... I cant believe you have left us! You will be missed by many! You will be missed by me .
