Robert Manning Obituary

Robert A. Manning
September 23, 1920 - April 3, 2012

Robert A. Manning, born September 23, 1920, died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends April 3, 2012. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa; his family later moved to Corning, California, and, after graduating from Corning High School, Bob entered the University of California, Davis.

After flying more than forty missions, he returned home and graduated in 1948 with his forestry degree from Oregon State University. He began his forestry career in Redding, California, in 1948 at Shasta Forests Co. William Beaty, previous manager of Shasta Forest Co., and four other foresters, including Bob, created the firm of W.M. Beaty and Associates, Inc.

Bob retired in 1985 and spent his retirement years creating woodworking masterpieces, traveling fishing, duck hunting, and amazing and amusing his friends with stories of hilarious incidents in the life of R A Manning.

He is survived by his wife Eva (Vangie) Manning, Kathleen Skelly (son-in-law Randall), Michael Manning (daughter-in-law Dolores), daughter Christine Ward, and six beloved grandchildren.

Robert Manning will be memorialized by friends and family on April 13th, at 11a.m. at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, Igo, California. There will be a 1:00 p.m. reception at Dukes Steakhouse at 1800 Churn Creek Rd, Redding California.

Vangie. I am sorry I could not make to Bob's services. I will miss him. He made a chair flower pot holder for my mom, Madeline Cole, when she was at Marina Guest Home before she passsed. Unfortunately I didn't get it and I don't know if they still have it. He is now with my Aunt Lillian, a great lady. Love to you all, Carole (Cole) Cossuto

The Nash's

The Old Oregon Trail neighborhood has become very quiet now after more than 55 years of Bob Manning's jovial presence here. A very remarkable individual who lived, served and worked during a very remarkable time, the likes of which either are not likely to ever be seen again. God speed, Manning, they're waiting for you on the other side of the duck pond: Martin, Stratte, Brandes, Nash, Mathews, Sandrock, Beatty and all the others.

Mr Mannings 90th he was loved by many
