Robert's Obituary

Robert Franklin Morgan, Jr., 85, went home to be with his loving Savior on January 8, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife of 59 years and their children. Born on May 28, 1940, in South Bend, Indiana, Bob was the son of Robert Franklin Morgan and Annabelle Lee Cunningham.

Bob graduated from Washington Clay High School in 1958 and proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962. On June 18, 1966, he married the love of his life, Nina Jean Douglass, beginning a marriage that stood as a testimony of faith, commitment, and enduring love. Together, they celebrated 59 years of marriage this past June.

A devoted family man, Bob was a loving father to Scott (Suzanne), Jennifer (companion Ernie), and Angela. His heart overflowed with pride for his grandchildren Jeffrey (Kaitlyn) Morgan and Emersyn Morgan, and he was richly blessed with three great-grandsons—Jakob, Brody, and Landon.

In retirement, Bob could be found spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great grandsons. Many Saturdays were spent at the bowling alley with Jeff and on the soccer field of his great grandsons. In the later years, Pa proudly stood along the sidelines of the lacrosse field cheering on his “baby girl,” the affectionate name he lovingly gave his only granddaughter.

Bob faithfully provided for his family through his work in South Bend, Indiana, at SouthBend Range and later in Port Richey, Florida at Widell Industries always modeling responsibility, integrity, and quiet strength.

Known simply and lovingly as “Pa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he lived a life rooted in faith. He loved God, cherished his family, and remained a loyal Notre Dame football fan to the end—Go Irish!

Bob was a faithful member of Mercy Point Church in Burrville, where his love for the Lord shaped the way he lived, served, and loved others. His family finds great peace in knowing that he is now fully healed, rejoicing in Heaven, and hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Bob is survived by his brother Richard (Anne) Morgan of Stevensville, Michigan; his sister Pamela (Jack) Shields; sisters-in-law Patience Morgan of South Bend, Indiana, and Sharon Boyd of South Bend, Indiana; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother James Morgan of South Bend, Indiana.

Bob’s legacy of faith, family, and steadfast love will continue to live on through the generations he so deeply treasured.

In honoring the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2026 at Mercy Point Church Burrville following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s honor to Hospice of Jefferson County or Mercy Point Church Burrville.

Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Inc. and condolences may be left online at www.reedbenoit.com.
