Robert “Bob” Nowakowski, age 70, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on January 28, 2019 in Winfield, Illinois. He was born in Chicago on June 25, 1948.
Bob grew up in North Riverside and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He then went on to Lewis University to get a Bachelors in Behavioral Science. During the Vietnam War, Bob served in the U.S. Navy overseeing the Naval Ammunition Depot. He was a retired Director of Operations from Kustom Seating Unlimited. Bob was an avid sports fan and particularly loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and golf. He was also known for his sense of humor and a lifelong, special gift for loving animals.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Tamara Nowakowski of Wheaton; his sister Arlene Komos; his nieces Laura Komos and Denise Morabito; his mother-in-law Josephine Disko; and his dog Wrigley.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Mary Nowakowski; his father-in-law Harry Disko; brother-in-law Edwin Komos; and his dogs Barclay, Sam, and Charlie.
A visitation will be held February 8, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S Wheaton Ave, Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to West Suburban Humane Society 1901 W. Ogden Avenue Downers Grove, IL 60515 or the Humane Society of your choice.
