Not sure what to say?

Coach Riley was my baseball, cross country, and freshman basketball coach but above all else a great teacher and human being. He instilled in me a love of history which has remained with me my entire life. I talked with Coach three years ago at the Nappanee High School Class of 1967 reunion and we reminisced about our class, the sectional victory in 1967, and the 55 years between then and now. I have always been grateful that our paths crossed. My sympathy to his family.

I remember as a kid visiting Bob on the farm and pheasant hunting together. I don't think we ever shot a pheasant, but walking together through the corn stubble along the bushy fence rows on a cold winter day is something I will never forget. I also have fond memories of Riley reunions at our uncle Guy's house in Union Mills with its perfect little lake. Memories of all the Riley cousins playing around the lake's edge. Although I haven't seen Bob in years I will miss him, the last of Uncle...

Mr. Riley was the only History teacher that made history interesting and meaningful. He also is an outstanding human being. I enjoyed running into him and speaking with him. His dry sense of humor definitely hit my funny bone! He will be missed!

Mr. Bob Riley taught my social studies class at NorthWood High school class of 80. I am glad to hear he was a Master gardener, as I am one, also. I have always had great respect for him.

To the family of Coach Riley,

I am a 1967 graduate of Nappanee High School. Coach Riley coached me for 3 years of cross country; freshman basketball; and most of all I made the first baseball team he coached at Nappanee High School - I was a freshman. He was one of the finest coaches and teachers that I had in high school. I have always held him in the highest of respect. Fortunately, I was able to visit with him at our Class of 67 reunion three years ago. My deepest sympathy...

One of the best teachers and persons in Nappanee. Always there to help and simply cared about me as a student. Fortunately I was able to keep up with him (and Arden Stutzman) when I came back to visit my folks since he was in a daily coffee group at Hunter’s. He will be missed.

Mr. Riley was one of my favorite teachers at Nappanee High School -- class of 1965. I would run into him once in awhile when I went back to Nappanee to visit my Mom and Dad. He was as friendly as ever. He will be missed.

How many times , as a kid , I heard my dad talk about his basketball coach SmokinBob Riley ❤ Bob invested in me when I didn’t deserve his attention. I loved him and I will always miss him. RIP my friend ❤

Bob was JV BBB coach when I was a senior at NorthWood on the Varsity. I got to know him very well at that time. I was also on the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame committee with him for a number of years! A great guy who will be missed! Rest in peace!
