2020
Robin Antoinette Butler, one of God’s angels, was born January 12, 1969 and called home on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Robin was affectionately known as “Sis” or “Aunt Sis”. Robin was the youngest child of Robert and Mary Smith-Butler. Robin was educated in the Roanoke City Public Schools. While in high school, she served as a page for Gov. McFarland. After graduating from William Fleming High School in 1987, Robin was accepted to the Roanoke Memorial School of Practical Nursing. She received Christ at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Robin started her career in early 2000 as a rep for Verizon and soon retired when she was diagnosed with early stages of Lupus. With Sis, everything was going to be pure perfection, from preparing a meal to braiding a head of hair or just socially gathering, when you know you’re going to be entertained. Robin never met a stranger; her smile was infectious. If you weren’t family when she met you, by the time she took you home, you were. On February 16, 2000, Robin gave birth to her little prince, whom she adored. Robin had been that surrogate mother to her godchildren, younger cousins, nieces, and nephews, but finally, that real love was with Brent. Robin was active with all of Brent’s activities, from PTA to football and baseball. She was a team mom and his #1 cheerleader. She loved those “Cowboys” but not how she loved Brent. Robin was preceded in death by: her maternal grandfather, Samuel “Sammy” Smith, and uncle, Thornton “TAT” Smith. Those left to cherish her memory are: her son, Brent Tre’Vance Butler; devoted parents, Robert and Mary Butler; one brother, Bryan Thornton (BT) Butler; three nephews, Bryan, Robert, and Aiden Butler; two nieces, Brinae Butler of North Carolina, Tiahne Patonevich; one great-niece, Bre’niya Butler; one godsister, Sharon Moorman; two goddaughters, Chelsea Walker and Leticia Smith; one godson, LaChaz Paige, two aunts, Dinah Fralin of Roanoke, Vatiff Rhodes of California; one uncle, Robin Smith of Roanoke; and a host of other family and special friends. There are no good-byes for you and me. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.
Your Sisters,
Verde, Hope, Tonya, Adonna, Lenora, Ronda, Glenna, and Beverly

Healing Prayers to all Robin’s Family and Friends. May fondest memories help ease your pain from this loss. I will always cherish our talks when working at Verizon. How her smile would light up talking about her sweet Brent. She was always so full of life and truly believed in helping those around her. Godspeed Robin.

Sis, You've been a member of my family since before I was born. Our families are very closely knit, regardless of blood relation. I have only fond memories of you and will cherish those forever. We're saddened to see you go but we know that your suffering in this plain is over,as to be absent of the body is to be present with the Lord. My love, prayers and heartfelt condolences to Moochie, Butler, BT and, most of all, Brent. My mother sends her love also.

Mary and Robert, so shocked and saddened. Even though we did not see each other often after leaving the bank, Robin frequently came to mind. I pray you will receive comfort and strength from God in the days ahead.

WE the members of the Lucy Addison Class of 1969 offer our prayers of love and support as you celebrate the home going of Robin. We grew up with and attended school with "Moochie." On Mondays she could always tell on the classmates who stopped by Easter's over the weekend! We've been able to laugh over the years and now is the time to hug you and Butler as you see these dark days. It was once said in a song, "the darkest hour is just before dawn." Weep if you desire but remember the Sun will rise and you will see her again!

My Dear Niece, you are going to be soooooo missed. 2 Corinthians 5:8, says, We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Baby Girl, I will see you again. Until then rest peacefully, enjoy your heavenly family. God loves you and so do I. Aunt Fuzzy.
