Roger Goad Obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Roger Alan Goad of Dublin, Va. Roger passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with liver cancer. He was 70 years old and was a beloved brother, stepfather, uncle, colleague, and more importantly a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Edith Goad; brother, Turney Goad; beloved sister, Della Goad Poff; and beloved brother-in-law, Gary Wayne McNeil.
Survivors include his stepdaughter and spouse, Christine and Steven Patterson; step grandchildren, Riley Patterson, Silas Patterson, and Tristian VanSise; sister, Nina McNeil Nepstad and her husband, Buddy; brother-in-law, Johnny Poff; sister-in-law, Carolyn Goad; and many other loved relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Parrott United Methodist Church. A Celebration of His Life will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Teresa Tolbert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parrott UM Church.

Roger was the best thing that ever happened in my life. Our first date was February 24th 2017. I fell in love with him from the beginning he was such a gentleman so kind and would do anything for anyone. He always made me laugh and would call and sing to me, he was really good at making up songs! ❤❤ I’ll miss you more than you’ll ever know! You were my life and I pray that you knew how much I loved you!! Praying for Nina and his family! They are a special family please keep them in your prayers!

I have felt such sadness since I heard Roger was so sick. I will always love him as such a dear friend. We became friends in 1970 and then worked together for around 38 years. He was always such a kind person with a Hugh heart. He was such a gentleman. His laughter will forever be in my heart and I pray when I get to heaven he will be one of the first friends I will see. I am heartbroken that Roger has passed. Roger and my brother, Wayne, have been so close for so many years that he always felt like family to me. He was one of the good ones - always kind and loving to all and will remain in my heart forever.

Roger was a good family friend He always communicated on Kim’s, Kelly’s and my birthdays. Kim’s last one he called her and sang happy birthday to her over the phone. Always called me weekly just to chat. I will miss him calling me and saying “ what you doing”. Hard to believe that he is gone. Surely will miss him. Our prayers is with his family.
