Roger Joseph Traverso, 77, a beloved husband, devoted father, and remarkable grandfather of four, passed away suddenly at his home in Morgan Hill, California, on Friday, March 14th. He was a man of kindness, dedication, and integrity who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Roger had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his free time camping, fishing, and enjoying the peacefulness of nature. He also had a passion for tinkering around his home and yard, always finding new ways to keep himself busy. However, what Roger treasured most in life was the time spent with his family and friends. His unwavering love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he was a source of strength, guidance, and warmth for his loved ones.
For many years, Roger dedicated his life to serving the people of Santa Clara County, beginning as a deputy sheriff and later as an investigator for the District Attorney’s office. His commitment to public service and his community was unmatched, and his work left an enduring legacy in the lives he touched.
Roger's memory will live on through his family—his loving wife (Shelley), children (Bryan and Steven), and four cherished grandchildren (Gabi, Gavin, James and Tristan). He was a true patriarch, admired for his compassion, work ethic, and deep sense of loyalty to those he loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at 1:00 PM at Fortinos Winery in Gilroy, California. All who knew Roger are invited to gather and honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to his family, friends, and community.
Roger will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love and service will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate money towards South Valley Civic Theater in Roger’s name.

We were so very sorry to hear of Rogers passing. The Traverso and Bevilacqua families go back some 80 plus years in the Madrone and Morgan Hill areas. Joe and Marie, his Mom and Dad were Don's Godparents. Condolences to Shelley and the boys. He will be missed and remembered.

My friendship with Roger started from the 5th grade at PA WALSH elementary school.
Roger is now with the Lord and in time we will all be reunited again.
I will never forget the great memories of our travels to Lone Pine to visit our classmate Don Nichols, Manzanar, Monterey to watch the B-17 bombers land. We were able to board one of the bombers. We also visited Bodie (ghost town) and Laws Train Station.
The memories and laughter of our travels
Will be with me forever.

I will miss Roger´s friendliness and skill at carpentry. I have designed many sets for South Valley Civic Theatre (SVCT) and Roger volunteered to help on numerous occasions. He was a joy to have behind the scenes and became a strong supporter of SCVT.
