Roland Pittman Sr. Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Roland Aubrey Pittman announce his passing on Friday, March 18th,2022 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook in his 96th year. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories are his daughter’s; Donna (Norm Hiscock) of Bonne Bay Pond and Darleen (Rod Roberts) of Corner Brook. Grandchildren; Jason (Denise) Hiscock of Pasadena, Sheldon (Lisa) Roberts of Paradise, Joanne (Keith MacDonald) of Dartmouth, NS., Stephen (Kerry Hunt) of Mississauga, Ont., Jenna Pittman of Fort McMurray, Alb. and Hailey Pittman of St. John’s, NL. Great grandchildren; Sarah and Kailey MacDonald. Step great grandchildren; Brandon Macdonald, Ella O’Neil and Jesse O’Neil. Special daughter-in-law Faye (Wayne Mulrooney), special friend Florence Hutchings. Also left to morn are many nieces, nephews, cousins and his special friends and staff at The Deer Lake Manor.
Roland was predeceased be his first wife Mary Pittman and his second wife Rita Pittman; daughter, Hughena (Steve Hunt); sons: Roland and Jeffrey Pittman. His parents Frank and Susanna Pittman and sister Rachel (Edward Hunt). Brother’s; Harvey (Ivy) Mudge, Woodrow (Laura) Pittman, Felix (Rita) Pittman and Stephen (Jonie) Pittman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sonya and the staff at The Deer Lake Manor for going above and beyond in caring for their dad during the time he was a resident there.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 24th,2022 from the hours of 2-4pm and 7-9 pm at The Anglican Church in Norris Point also where the funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25th,2022 at 11am with Rev. Wilhelmina Green officiating. The family request that all those attending the visitation and funeral please social distancing and wear a mask is being requested by the family . Interment will follow at the church cemetery. This funeral service will be live streamed to view the funeral service please go to our face book page @ Parsons Funeral Home (Deer Lake), to the live stream service.

I was saddened to hear about Rol’s passing.
I met Rol when we bought the vacation house next door to him in Neddies’ Harbour.
He was so warm & welcoming to us - strangers from Ontario.
I will always remember him for his kindness,& generosity. I will also remember his wonderful smile, twinkle in his eye, & sense of humour in the stories he would tell us.
His positive outlook would have been a great benefit to his community , family and friends. I will miss seeing him whenever I come back to NL.
My sincere condolences to the family. Cherish your memories, they will bring you comfort at this sad time. Blessings

To the Pittman family my heart felt condolences to family. Many fond memories of Roll, going into the grocery store with dad. Dad worked for Roll as a bus driver many years ago and working in the store in Norris Point. Seeing him at Deer Lake Manor when mom was there he always had a smile. Bless his heart he was one of a kind. I worked for him for 5.5 years and I never saw this wonderful man without a smile no matter how stressful his days became. Being the owner of a big grocery, hardware and department store he was kind and respectful to all of his employees and customers even those who owed him money that he knew he'd probably never collect. Our community was blessed by his presence. He supported everything that happened and respectfully attended all funerals and would be seen each Sunday in his pew at the Anglican church. Sending sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace sweet man.
