Ronald Victor Ponath, 89, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025.
A rosary and vigil service will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2025 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Burkburnett. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Burkburnett. Interment with full military honors will be 1:00 p.m. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
Ronald was born in Watertown, Wisconsin on April 6, 1936 to Victor and Margaret (Kasten) Ponath. After high school Ronald joined the United States Air Force where he served two tours in Korea as a Special Weapons Instructor and received his Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, and one tour in Japan. He was later stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio where he met the love of his life, Eloisa Martinez. They married on December 15, 1962 and were blessed with 62 years together.
Ronald was a very structured and loving man. He raised his daughters to rise-n-shine early, always take pride in all you do, and show respect to one another. His presence will truly be missed but his life lessons and legacy will live on.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Margaret Ponath; and his sisters, Marlene Polensky and her husband Don, and Judith Christenson.
Those left to cherish his memories and accomplishments are his loving wife, Eloisa M. Ponath; his daughters, DeAnna Rogers (Michael), and Lori Amador (Adan); his brother-in-law, Allan Christenson; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eighteen nieces and nephews along with many neighbors and friends throughout his life.
