Ronnie Scantlin, 75, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Ron was born on April 20, 1948, in St. Roberts, Missouri to Chester Ray and Fannie Lou (Boyette) Scantlin. He graduated from high school in 1967 and met the love of his life while attending Southwest Baptist University. Ron and Linda (Rawlings) were married on May 31, 1969. They were looking forward to celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary next month.
Ron was drafted into the United States Army and bravely served his country. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and presented two Purple Hearts after serving a tour in Vietnam.
After his military service, Ron served students at the Missouri School for the Deaf as the Dean of Students while completing his education at Lincoln University. Throughout his life, Ron continued to serve many students with special needs while in Fulton, MO, Denton, TX and finally retiring from Mounds School System in Mounds, OK in 2012.
Ron served his community in many ways, especially through the Pickett Prairie Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Ron was a deacon for over 30 years and whole-heartedly participated in church activities including cooking for the youth at Fall’s Creek summer camp, playing music weekly at area nursing homes, and teaching various classes of Sunday School.
While fishing was always one of Ron’s favorite pastimes, he had a passion for classic cars and hot rods and was a founding member of the Fun Bunch Car Club. “Head Gasket,” as he was known to his car club friends, enjoyed the lifelong fellowship with the car club members working together on their cars, attending many car-shows and trips, all while supporting each other in ways only the best of friends could.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda, his brother Charles (Debbie) Scantlin, his daughters, Lorinda (John) Dolan and Lenora Scantlin, grandchildren Jake Dolan, Bryana (Dustin) Copeland, Jaiden (Brooklyn) Wingo and Abbi Wingo, great-grand children Drake, Bennett and Ellie, and a host of other family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cecil Ray Scantlin, his infant sister Rhonda, and his son Ritchie.
Ron’s greatest gift was his ability to be a best friend to everyone. He lived a life of kindness and compassion and was always able to find the perfect words for encouragement, the funniest jokes, or the most heartfelt prayer. His smile and zest for life will be missed by all those who knew and loved Ron.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, from 6:00-8:00pm at Traditions Funeral Services in Kellyville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 2, at Pickett Prairie Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 3 at the Millersburg Cemetery in Millersburg, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Pickett Prairie, Sapulpa Oklahoma or the Millersburg Cemetery Association, Fulton, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK, 918-247-7373.

I'll always remember the bass we caught as a team without a fishing pole that wound up being the large bass for the tournament. I truly appreciate the kidness you always showed to me, and I will miss you greatly until I see you again.

I got to meet you back in 2015 & the first time I met you I called you papa & you was 100% okay with it. it was a gift from god to give me another grandparent that I loved & cherished very much. We’d see each other going to the bank & the store or even driving down the road or with Nora & I loved every bit of moments I had with you. My girls loved you so much they’d said momma pawpaw got some good looking vehicles & his nice cars. I wanna help him one day. I know that day didn’t happened but I know they’ll love ever moment they had with you. I sure can say you was the best husband, father, friend, coworker etc anyone could ask for you’d give your shirt off your back if you had too just to make someone’s day. We’re gonna miss you. Gone but never forgotten. We love you.
