Rosanne M. Procopio - Of Somerville, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. She was 82 years old.
Rosanne Marguerite Procopio was born to Antonio P. Procopio and Annemaria R. Wagner in Portchester, New York. Along with baby sister Mariellen, the family moved to Taunton, MA, and soon sisters Annemaria and Margarita completed the family unit.
Rosanne excelled in her studies at all school levels: Elementary and St. Mary’s H.S., Taunton; Merrimack College, Andover, B.A. in Education. More recently Rosanne completed the graduate degree program for M.ED in Special Education at Lesley University, Cambridge.
From 1967-1969 Ro taught elementary classes at Kadena Air Force Base, on Okinawa, Japan. She developed a keen interest in the culture, people, and arts of Japan. On her return she lived near Berkley, CA, and ran an independent movie theater. She came to love classic American and European films.
Ro returned to Taunton in the 1970’s and taught in the public schools for several years. She found her best and last home in Davis Square in Somerville. She shared her love of teaching in both the Cambridge and Lynn school systems. The cultural and arts institutions fit her interests to a tee. Boston Lyric Opera, the Boston Symphony, Museum of Fine Arts, Somerville Theatre, Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, Harvard Book Store author events, Brattle Theatre, American Repertory Theater – Ro was a regular at all of these.
Rosanne found her Church at the Paulist Center in Boston, where she enjoyed volunteering at special events. She has many friends among the staff, and most personally, her counselor and close friend Fr. Rick Walsh.
Ro was devoted to her family, the Philadelphia side and the Brockton side. Our generation of cousins is close. Ro was delighted to be generous, doting on her three nephews, and later the great-nieces and nephews. She also loved to share with her friends. Toward those among us in need, Rosanne’s heart lived these words: ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” – Matthew 25:40
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday November 22 in the Paulist Center 5 Park St., Boston at 10:00AM. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service in the church from 9:00AM to 10:00AM.
Interment will be private.
