Rosemary Billies

1918 - 2011

Rosemary Greco Billies, 93 died Saturday at home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Rosemary was a resident of Demarest, NJ for more than fifty years before moving to New Hope, Pa. in 2005. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Demarest. She was a Registered Nurse graduating from Prospect Heights Hospital Nursing School in 1944 and she attended Columbian University.


Rosemary was the first female President of the Board of Health in Demarest. She championed the cause of free blood pressure testing for all residents of Bergen County. She also submitted articles pertaining to Pediatrics to the RN Magazine. Her volunteer work included acting as a school nurse at St. Joseph's School in Demarest and Northern Valley High School in Demarest.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Greco and widow of Andrew J. Billies, she is survived by three daughters Linda Jane Garret of Westwood NJ, Elizabeth Billies and her husband Roger Bordman of New Hope, Pa. Rosemary Andrea Billies of Demarest, NJ two granddaughters Jessica Garrett and Meghan Billies Schaprio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday Dec. 22 at 10:so am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 424 Lincoln Ave., Avon by the Sea, followed by burial in St.Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River. Memorial contributions to the Doylestown Hospital Foundation, 595 W. State St. Doylestown, Pa. 18901.
