Roxanne Rush Obituary

Roxanne Mariah Hodge Rush, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 17, 2020 at 1:35AM. She was a native of Hastings, IA and resident of Houma, LA.


Services will be privately held for family and friends. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington Nation Cemetery in Arlington, VA.


Roxanne is survived by her sons, Gerald Vance and Stanley Vance. Roxanne is also survived by her grandchildren.  


Roxanne is preceded in death her husband, Clarence Lovay Rush; parents, Carl Vernon Hodge and Lois Evelyn Fleming Hodge; brother, William Donald Hodge. 


Roxanne and her husband, Clarence met while she served in the United States Army.  She had a distinguished career in the Army and held many offices and positions over her eight years in service to the United States.  Some positions held will serving her country were Unit Clerk, Senior Heavy Vehicle Driver, Squad Leader, Assistant Truck Master,  Instructor 5049th USAR School, Assistant Platoon Sgt. 104th TC Co in Ft. Devens, MA.  And UMCC Liaison NCO in Oberursel, Germany; achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. She was also distinguished in her service by achieving recognition as a “Sharpshooter”.


Roxanne served her community in many ways over her long life. She was a Nurse’s Aide and also worked for the postal service achieving the position as a Post Master.  


Roxanne will be missed by her family and friends and all the many lives she touched over the years.

She was one of the best people that I ever met. She was out dear neighbor for many years and my dear friend for long after that. I am so happy for her that she will finally be with her dear husband. I will always love you and miss you.
