Roy Joe Akins, Jr., 50, of Texarkana, AR, died Monday, January 3, 2011, in a local hospital. He was born April 14, 1960, in Fresno, CA. He was a logger, an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of North Heights Pentecostal Church of God.He is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Cathy and Ronnie Roberts, Nona McCommas, and Connie Alton; two nieces, Melissa Gatlin and Jennifer Harvey; one nephew, Clint Alton; two great-nieces, Jade Fite and Jordan Gatlin; one great-nephew, Jacob Alton; and a number of other relatives including a special aunt, Pearl Akins and three special cousins, Mark Akins, Billy Akins, and Sandy Akins.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at North Heights Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. Robbie Jansen officiating.
