Roy Gardner, Jr. Obituary

Roy Gardner, Jr., 89, of Bangor, PA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 15, 2026.


Born on October 1, 1936, in Easton, PA, Roy was the son of the late Roy Gardner, Sr. and Esther (Riegel) Gardner.


He was the owner of Gardner - Roeschmann Painting until his retirement. His career also included roles as a teacher, Human Resources manager at Martin Guitar in Nazareth, and many other companies. A proud alumnus, Roy graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1954 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Moravian College in 1962.


Roy served his country in the U.S. Navy and was an active member of his community. He was involved with the former Young Republican Club in Easton, the Bangor Borough Centennial Committee, and served as a Boy Scout Leader. He was also a member of the Studebaker Car Club.


Roy's hobbies included playing cards, poker tournaments, traveling and cruising, playing his Martin Guitars, collecting antique cars and tractors, and golfing.  He also enjoyed Phillies baseball and the San Francisco 49ers.  His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and friends. With his larger-than-life personality and quick wit, he was the life of every gathering.  He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.


He is survived by three daughters: Sheri Lobb and husband George, Jodi Williams and husband Ted, and Sandi Miller and husband Tom, grandchildren: Jared, George, James, Teddy, Nicholas, LeJeune, and Jane, and several great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his longtime companion, Janet Dutcher, her three children: Alan, Leslie, and Candice, and her grandchildren. He also leaves behind three nieces: Debbie, Donna, and Lori. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, LeJeune (Gill) Gardner, who passed away in 1988, and his sister, Shirley Slack.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 21st, at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA, with a visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, March 21st at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Bangor Cemetery in East Bangor, PA.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF, at PO Box 5042, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5042; the American Heart Assoc., 968 Postal Road, Allentown, PA 18109; or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 862, Pittsburgh, PA 15106.
