Roy Mitchell Pauley

1944 - 2026

      Roy “Mitchell” Pauley, 81 of Hardy, KY passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his residence. Mitchell was born on May 15, 1944, in Williamson, WV the son of the late Joseph Pauley and Grace Varney Pauley. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Paul Pauley, Gifford Pauley, Clifford Pauley, Fredrick Pauley, Esteleen Pauley, James Pauley and Betty Burgett, as well as two special friends, Jason May and Helena Coleman. Mitchell proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, after which he worked at Ford Motor Company for many years before his retirement. Mitchell attended  Sharondale Church of Christ.

Survivors include his neighbor who was more like family, Amanda May of Hardy, KY, his caretaker, Steven Marcum; Zachary May and Taylor Layne whom he thought of as his grandchildren; nephews, Larry (Penny) Burgett, Tom (Rose) Burgett and his niece, Crystal Schimmer. Mitchell also leaves behind a host of church family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 6-9 PM at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, with special service at 7 PM. Mitchell’s funeral will be conducted on Thursday, January 22, 2026, beginning at 1 PM, with Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow at the  Pauley Cemetery, in Hardy KY, with Mitchell’s family and friends serving as pallbearers. The Belfry D.A.V Chapter #141 will be conducting military services. R.E.
