Rozetta's Obituary

Rozetta Ilagene Bucklew of Sebring, FL passed away peacefully at 7:00 PM on September 29, 2025 in her home. She was born November 20, 1923, the daughter of William L. Edmondson, and Bertha P. Edmondson in Clay County, Indiana. After marrying Orval Bucklew in 1941 she spent most of the next 20 years in the same house she grew up in on a small farm in Clay County, IN. During that time, she devoted her days to feeding the animals, working the garden, canning food for the winter, preparing 3 meals a day, and raising her two children, William (Linda), and Sherry. In addition, the family was quite involved in church activities. She was a busy lady. When asked about her hobbies she once said she enjoyed sewing, which was mostly daughter Sherry's feed sack dresses, and hers as well. Truth is she worked all day, and well into the evenings, so there was not much time for hobbies. There was milking, gathering eggs, running the cream separator, and other such duties to attend to. She did it all in those days. She was always very proud of her reputation for preparing wonderful family dinners as she was an excellent cook.

Rozetta and Orval sold the farm and moved to Ohio in 1963 where he was able to work normal working hours. There she enjoyed a much more quiet life focusing upon her gardening and sewing with a little reading. Following Orval's retirement, they traveled all through 49 states, twice up the Alaskan highway in a camper, and made a trip to the Holy Land. Her next 25 years have been in Sebring, FL where she was active with Whispering Pines Baptist Church. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary together with an Open House in their retirement home in Sebring, FL.

Surviving are William (Linda) Bucklew, Sherry Wallace, and two granddaughters.

Family and friends graveside services conducted by Steve Trinkle and Todd Schwingel will be at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
