Ruby Carol Bennett

1948 - 2014

Ruby Carol Bennett, 66, of the Springdale Community, Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1948, in Springdale, VA, the daughter of the late Early Houston and Mary Katherine James Simpkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Bennett, Sr.; three sisters, Mary Francis Collins, Margaret Browe Tabor, and Mildred Louise Kirk.

She is survived by two sons, George H. Bennett, Jr. (Cindy), Riner, Dwayne Bennett (Jennifer), Wytheville; two daughters, Tracy Alley (Tony), Max Meadows, Misty Kornegay (and friend Jesse), Pearisburg; three brothers, Donald Lee (Marie) Simpkins, Charlottesville, VA, Ronnie William (Sylvia) Simpkins, Ruckersville, VA, Elmer Newton (Tamara) Simpkins, Pulaski; four grandchildren, Austin Alley, Emily Kornegay, Caleb Blankenship, Jamie Johnson; brother-in-law, Walter Kirk.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 14, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at the New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church, Staffordsville, with Tamara Simpkins and Rev. Layne Board officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
