Born in Manchester on December 18, 1936, she was the daughter of William and Nora (Early) Lydon. A lifelong resident of the Queen City, Ruth graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls, Class of 1954.
Ruth dedicated many years of her professional life to the New England Telephone Company, later Verizon, where she was known for her knowledge, commitment, and strong work ethic. She was also a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Her Catholic faith was a guiding force in her life, and she was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral.

She took great joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent together. Ruth had a gift for connection, her kind, gentle, and outgoing nature made it easy for her to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She enjoyed her monthly lunches with dear friends. Known for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, she brought light and laughter to those around her. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of forty-six years, John P. Byrne, who died October 29, 2003; her son, John W. Byrne; her granddaughter, Margaret “Maggie” Philbrook; and her siblings, William Lydon, Mary Lydon, Agnes Lydon, John Lydon, Patricia Zorawowicz, and Anna Lydon.

I met Ruth at a cook out at Central high for the band. Our grandsons were already friends. It was easy to strike up a conversation with Ruth. We shared some stories about our grandkids. We had a lot in common and each and every time we saw each other after that day, we were so happy to see each other. I will miss her smile and her lovely greetings. Sweet lady that everyone will miss but never forget
My deepest sympathy to her entire family and it was my honor to have made her acquaintance

In Loving Memory Of Ruth Byrne........
I will always remember a woman whose influence continues to bloom in the lives of everyone she touched. While her absence leaves a profound stillness, her presence is felt every single day in the laughter of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including the strength of the family she built.
I am forever grateful to her, not just for the kindness she showed me, but for the greatest gifts I have ever received. Without her spirit, her guidance, and her love, I wouldn't have the beautiful wife who stands by my side or the family that is my entire world. She lives on in the way my wife smiles and in the values we pass down to our children.
She will be missed greatly, but we walk forward carrying her light in our hearts, honored to be part of the beautiful story she began. FOREVER LOVED!
