Sally Dixon Rakes

Sally  Dixon Rakes age 82 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 in the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital  Center.

Sally was born in Galax, Virginia on March 29, 1944 to Charlie and Hazel Billings Dixon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Charlie Alec Dixon and Griggs Dixon; and sister Betty Tilley.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Paula Rakes; Marlene and Glenn Edwards all of Woodlawn, Virginia; sons Eddie Rakes of Grayson County, Virginia; Gordon Rakes of the Baywood Community; sisters and brother-in-law Mary Martin and Frank Leonard of Wytheville, Virginia; Nancy Salcido of Galax, Virginia; four grandchildren Sally Ann Edwards; Reece Edwards; Cassie Grubb and Calvin Rakes; two great-grandchildren Keshia Grubb and Lydia Grubb; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Cliffview Church of God with Pastor Jackie Poe officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Cliffview Church of God.
